Florida Association of Health Science Educators

Welcome to FAHSE!

We, the new board of the Florida Association of Health Science Educators (FAHSE), have a passion for Health Science Education and our goal is to see all Health Science Educators across Florida not only succeed, but thrive! You may remember our organization as HOEAF (Health Occupations Educator Association of Florida). We have recently changed the name, updated the bylaws, and taken a new stance for the future of health science educators.

From the Alachua County CTE Director, Shannon Ritter:

"We are very proud of this partnership with UF Health Shands. They have been at the table from day one of planning and have been wonderful partners. They give the students tours of the various departments in 11th grade. In 12th grade students get to do three rotations in different departments. In April, UF Health Shands personnel comes to the school and help students with the application process. Out of 26 seniors in May, 13 are already working for UF Health Shands. This story highlights one student. (We offer the Allied Health Assisting program at Eastside High School.)"

As you all know, healthcare is a challenging profession, even more so in the past few years. The call for future healthcare professionals has never been greater and it’s up to us to not only encourage and educate, but also fight for the students who have a desire to help others in the healthcare field. In order to make changes and have a voice where and when it matters, we need you!

I’ll borrow a phrase from a great mentor and friend, “help me, help you”. We’ve all said it, or at least thought it, at some point in our career and the expression fits this situation perfectly. In order for us to come together and have a voice to make real changes, we need to have the support and involvement of each and every one of you!

How do you join? Just go to https://facte.wildapricot.org/join-us and join FACTE with FAHSE, pay your dues and that’s it! You’ll start to receive emails from us about meetings (virtual of course) where we discuss, plan, and implement. We have a great team who is working diligently to get Florida’s Health Sciences the recognition, support, and financial obligation it deserves. Please feel free to reach out to any of our board members with any questions or concerns.
